FAQ
What is phosphate in my swimming pool?
Phosphates are organic materials that naturally occur in your pool from sources like dead leaves, insects, debrees, dirt, and lawn scalping. At high levels, phosphates can feed algae growth, turning your pool water green and not swimmable.
why is my swimming pool green?
Any algae growth due to the lack of chemicals or poor filtration can cause a pool to turn green and cloudy. In addition, high phosphate can also cause a pool to turn green including failure to keep the chemical balance, as of PH, Chlorine, and Conditioner or low/high salt levels for any salt system pools.
Where does my POOL chemistry have to be?
Chemistry varies as we are only there twice a week. CHLORINE: 1 - 3 PPM PH: 7.4 - 7.6 CONDITIONER: 60 - 80 ALKALINITY: 80 - 120 PPM CALCIUM HARDNESS: 200 - 400 PPM & 150 - 250 PPM SPA SALT: 2700 - 3400 HAYWARD & 3000 - 4000 PENTAIR COMBINE CHLORINE & PHOSPHATE: 0
When do I replace my pool water?
We recommend replacing your swimming pool water every 4 years.
what are the benefits of a salt water pool?
Easier on the skin
Generates free chlorine
No strong chlorine smell
Crystal clear water
Prevents algae growth
why does my swimming pool appear to not be moving water?
The most common reasons are having a dirty filter, dirty skimmer or pump pot basket, clogged impeller or there is not enough water in your swimming pool.
How soon after adding chemicals can I go swimming?
Depending on the chemicals added, times will vary. After a regular pool service, we recommend waiting at least 30 minutes to an hour. After a shock treatment you will need to wait 24 hours after the treatment has been done. We recommend checking the chemistry to make sure it’s ideal before going into the pool.
how do I prevent or get rid of algae in my pool?
Ensure your circulation and filtration system is working properly
Schedule your circulation pump accordingly to the size of your pool
Eliminate phosphates to prevent algae growth
Test your water regularly, brush, vacuum, skim debris and clean baskets at least twice a week, and maintain proper chemistry levels
why and when is chlorine added to a salt water pool?
Chlorine is added in the pool only if the salt system is not working properly and algae will start to grow. A salt system cannot shock the pool, which is the process of sanitizing the water. During the desert heat, and more pool usage, the salt cells may not be able to make enough chlorine to keep up with the demand.
How long do i need to run my pool in the summer months?
Depending on the size of your pool, hours will vary. For a normal sized pool, we recommend 8 hours/day during daylight hours. For a larger sized pool, we recommend 12-16 hours/day.
is it a problem if my swimming pool is too full or too low?
If your pool is too full, it is not a problem. Having a swimming pool full will keep you away from damaging your pool equipment. A lower water level is more problematic as it will suck dry and it increases the chances of a ruined pump and gaskets.
How do I know if my pool is leaking?
Signs of water loss: Auto filler running consistently on full force, possibly due to cracks on the structure of the pool or a broken underground pipe. If you find yourself with a significant water bill and chemical cost, you may have a leak in your pool.
